About Kick

Mission Statement

Kick - The Agency for Lesbian, Gay, Bi, and Transgender (LGBT) African-Americans, provides education and advocacy, fosters and encourages self-expression, identification, validation, empowerment, and liberation for all members of a diverse and inclusive community. Our goal is to promote personal and communal growth, improve quality of life, provide support and address the needs of this unique population. We aim to empower ourselves and our community by making positive choices and proactive decisions.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to establish Kick as the region's premiere African-American LGBT agency through:

• Implementing LGBT affirming events.
• Partnering with other LGBT organizations and allies that share our beliefs.
• Operating the Detroit Lesbian and Gay Welcome Center.
